Education -- A Top Priority

Education is an important part of the Sacramento Builders' Exchange (SBE). Not only does the Exchange offer a variety of educational and safety classes to its members, it also has always been dedicated to fostering an interest in the construction industry in the greater community.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Designed to assist our member companies with tools that help them run their businesses more efficiently, these classes cover a wide range of topics. Most are two to six hours in duration. Click here to access our class calendar.

SAFETY TRAINING: Safety is an important and necessary component of every company. Offering an average of six to eight basic safety training classes each month, SBE continues to be on the leading edge of safety training and certification.

POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION: In 2006, the Sacramento Builders' Exchange qualified as an authorized private post-secondary school to round out our educational opportunities. BPG, the Business Productivity Group, through these post-secondary classes, offers a more in-depth training on a variety of tools.

DESIGN/BUILD COMPETITION: This annual competition is meant to promote career awareness among high school students as well as create a fun learning experience. 2008 marked the 21st Anniversary of this unique program.

SCHOLARSHIPS: SBE offers scholarships to students in the Construction Management Programs at Sacramento State and CSU Chico.

In addition, In 2005, the Exchange started offering scholarships to the children and grandchildren of SBE member companies (both owners and employees).  These scholarships are available to qualified candidates pursuing various types of higher education.  Applicants may be seniors in high school.  Applications for the 2008 SBE Members Scholarships are due on February 15, 2008.  Click here to download the Application and Instructions.

CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EDUCATION FOUNDATION (CIEF): Established in 2004, CIEF is helping to build the next generation of the construction industry by stimulating, supporting and promoting education programs which significantly benefit organizations and employees of the industry and the customers they serve.

ACE MENTORING PROGRAM: As of 2007, the Sacramento Builders' Exchange is a partner in the ACE (Architect - Construction - Engineer) Program. A national program, this exciting program works with a group of students to expose them to all the aspects of the construction industry.
